My Triumphs

Dear blogging world,

Hi! It's me! The most boringest of boring bloggers! I know what you're thinking. My life is sad and pathetic and I never have anything to write about. Well you're right! Because today? I write to you about writing. Again. But today is a different story. Today, my writer's block faded away so I could write right.

Am I right?

Okay, I'm terrible. But in all seriousness, I wrote about 7 or 8 pages today. That is MASSIVE progress, seeing as I've been standing at a concrete blockade within my head for the last few months.

So I don't care what you all think! I deem that a success!

Book Review: Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

I am currently sitting in the same place that I was 24 hours ago...when I first opened this book. I should have known better; Colleen Hoover is the kind of author that ruins me for all other books. I should have known that this book was going to be absolutely superb.

I have two things to say, and I'll keep it simple.

1. This book is a prime example of why I will never be an author.
2. Read it.

6 stars if I could.

In Memorium

While today is primarily about remembering those who gave their lives for our country, it is also about remembering all those we have lost.

Failed Merengues & Pinterest Shirts

I'm 1 for 2 today.

1. Merengues
I've never tried to make them before, but the recipe certainly looked like they were going to be simple. But alas...lies. Either that, or my baking juju is out of whack today. It could easily be the latter. Oh well. I ate my feelings with the remaining batter and am attempting to bake the things into cookies instead of what they're supposed to look like. They'll be out of the oven any minute and hopefully they taste all right.

2. T-shirt
However, I did have success in the creative field! I've been meaning to repurpose some old t-shirts for a long time; I have a LOT of t-shirts. I was cleaning my room and decided to have at it while my eggs were warming to room temperature for the merengues. I'm glad I did, because I'm super excited about how it turned out. :)

Well, I did it

Graduation actually happened. At least, that's what the pictures on Facebook tell me. The last two days were spent in "class" for NCLEX preparation but now, my "summer" begins. Aka, it's time to find a job, shop, sleep, plan a house, study for boards, and attempt to start working out again, all in a very short period of time.

I'm not quite sure where the journey is taking me. For the first time in a while, I feel pretty solid with my life. I can't wait to see what's coming next.

Book Review: Fallen Too Far Series by Abbi Glines

Seeing as I graduate on Saturday, I, of course, had nothing better to do today than sit and read a book.

What am I saying? Reading a book is a phenomenal way to spend my time.

I just wrapped up the third book in this series.
#1 Fallen Too Far
#2 Never Too Far
#3 Forever Too Far

While overall, I enjoyed the writing and the development of the characters, I can't give the series more than 4 stars. Rush is your typical overprotective, rich socialite that didn't have a whole lot of depth to him. He said a lot of sweet words and even had a lot of sweet thoughts, but I don't think he was that great of a character. I actually really liked Blaire, a girl who loved deeply despite the extreme amount of damage that overshadowed her past.

But while the characters were good, I had some issues. There were simply too MANY characters and too many scenes. The number of random things thrown in, especially in the third book, had absolutely no contribution to the plot. Blaire's "brother" served no purpose. Harlow and Grant were probably a set up for another series, but still...it's a book about Rush and Blaire...there shouldn't be anything about the other characters in it. And Blaire pulling the gun on Angelina at the end? It was funny, sure, but ultimately pointless.

Crazy Television

I have and do watch a lot of tv. I could list 20 names without batting an eye. But let me say this. Never have I had a show pass as quickly as it does while watching it as Game of Thrones. I just finished watching last Sunday's episode and I feel like I was hardly watching for ten minutes. And Peter Dinklage is an absolute wonder to see perform week after week.

If you're over the age of 18 and are looking for a tv show to start watching, find a way to see this one. It's brilliant.

Growing Up

You realize that you are becoming an adult when you don't care about drinking every weekend and think less about going to the mall with your bestie and instead spend your time transplanting flowers in the backyard of the house that you plan on buying in the near future.

The strides toward my future are growing faster and much larger. I should be freaking out, but my excitement trumps everything else. Graduation is in two weeks. I have a wonderful boyfriend that will soon progress to more. I have a couple loyal friends that I love with all my heart. And before I know it, I'll have a house to decorate (and maintain of course). The one thing left on the list is finding a job. Then I can officially cross this stage if my life off the list and move on to bigger and better things.
